The Chaloem Ratchamongkhon Line (former= ly known as the Blue Line) is a heavy rail mass rapid transit scheme on a 22= km alignment, consisting of 18 km underground in twin and single bored tunne= l, 4 km cut and cover tunnel / at grade track at the Depot approach, 18 underground stations, 7 intervention shafts and an integrated Depot Facil= ity supported by a 22 Ha deck platform. There were six major Contracts consis= ting of Underground South, Underground North, Depot, Trackwork, Lifts & Escalators and an M&E Concession Agreement.

KL Sentral Station is t= he focal point for Kuala Lumpur’s railway networks and is serviced by the PUTRA LRT, KL Monorail System, Express Ra= il Link to KL International Airport, KTM Commuter and Inter-City trains connecting to Singapore, Thailand and other parts of Malaysia. The RM950m ($US 250m) KL Sentral station project was constructed on a design build contract basis by Ekovest Dragages (EKD) for it’s Client KLSS= B.

Duties involved dealing with design iss= ues during construction stage of PUTRA LRT2 Automated Rapid Transit System.  Directly responsible for upto 15= site based multi-disciplinary design staff and management of 16 locally appoin= ted engineering consultants and sub-consultants within = Kuala Lumpur.

PUTRA LRT2 System has an alignment of 2= 9km, consisting of 22km of elevated guideway, 4.5km of twin-bored tunnels and 2.5km of at grade track.  Th= ere are 18 elevated stations, 5 underground stations, one at-grade station an= d a large Depot Facility with Workshops, Administration Block and Central Con= trol building.  The system is the longest, automated and driverless system in the world. =

Design manager for stations and depot buildings team consisting of nearly 40 multi-disciplinary professional and technical staff for an International Consortium led Consultants Group.

The Line 1 capacity expansion project included a detailed review and assessment of 18 stations and a depot faci= lity on an existing ten years old LRT system.

The Line 2 high capacity LRT system has= 11 transit stations and a large depot facility along its predominantly eleva= ted 14km length. Construction of the $900 million commenced late 1997.
